The app itself

Money left, in days

One honest number: how long you could keep going without earning.

The Runway home screen: months and days of money left, this month’s income, spend and net, and each account below. The Price screen turning $30,000 into 2 years 10 months of life. The History screen listing incomes and balance readings with running totals. The Menu screen with accounts, loans, things you own and exchange rates. Products: every product you’ve bought with its unit price, its trend, the shop and date, and a Scan a receipt button. Receipts by month and shop, with the month’s total and a photo receipt.
Why it matters

What you really get is calm.

Nobody can hold money in their head — balances, income, the pace you spend at, all moving at once. So the mind does the only thing left to it: it worries. Put a number on how long you’re safe for, and it can stop.

73%

of adults call the economy a significant source of stress

Money sits near the top of the worry list, year after year — above almost everything else in life.

−13 IQ

is what money worries cost your thinking

Being preoccupied with money drops cognitive performance about as much as losing a whole night’s sleep. The worry itself makes you worse at money.

Today

is as far as money stress lets you look

Under scarcity, attention tunnels onto the nearest bill and the horizon shrinks to the present — so you accept bad offers and pass on good ones out of fear.

Money deserves the same. Not measured in inflation or exchange rates, but at your own rate: the time your money buys personally for you.

What you get

All the clarity, none of the chores.

A bank balance doesn’t tell you much. Days do: how long you can keep going, and whether you’re getting ahead.

The number

How long your money lasts.

Days, not dollars

See your money as the number of days it will last. One honest number instead of a balance you have to think about.

198 days

No expense tracking

Just add your income and check your balances once a month. Runway works out the rest. Categories only if you want them — and then they’re picked for you.

What things really cost

See any purchase as days of money, not just a price. A tank of gas is a few days; a vacation is a couple of weeks.

Going up or down?

Watch whether your days are growing or shrinking month to month. That’s the real sign of progress — not just a bigger number in the bank.

Everything you own

A second number shows how long you’d last if you sold everything you own, minus what you owe.

A clock for your money

A live counter ticks up when you’re saving and down when you’re not — your reserve, in real time.

Years of freedom

See when you’ll reach 1, 5, or 10 years of runway at your current pace.

Goals and a floor

Save up for something — a sum or days of freedom — and see when you get there. Set a floor you don’t want to dip below; Runway warns before you do.

Keeping the books

Two minutes a month. The books keep themselves.

It teaches itself, one step at a time

Open it and start. One next-step card on Home, every entry answered with the number it changed, and a screen unlocks once you’ve done what feeds it a few times — on your own.

A calculator in every field

Type 1200+350−10% and let Runway do the math — on its own keypad.

Transfers aren’t spending

Move money between accounts, or take cash from a card you don’t track — it never counts as spending or income.

Where the money goes, honestly

A category is picked for you from the note, the receipt or last time — a tap to change. Each month by category, income by source, and what you never explained shown as its own line instead of hidden.

Fixed costs, with their history

Rent, power, subscriptions — see what share of your spending is nailed down. When the rent goes up, the old number stays on record.

Edits never rewrite the past

Proper double-entry books under the hood. History shows the balance after every line, and a correction is a reversal plus a new line — nothing is silently overwritten.

A streak for keeping the books

Days, weeks or months in a row — you pick the cadence. Consistency earns freezes that cover a missed period, and a nudge the evening before it would break. A card to share it.

Prices

What things cost, and where they cost less.

Scan a receipt, keep the prices

Point the camera at the QR code on a fiscal receipt and every product on it is saved with its price, shop and date — no typing. One tap logs the total as an expense, if you want it. Montenegro and Albania for now; more countries as you send us their receipts.

Your products, your inflation

What you paid per kilo, how much you bought and spent — per product and over all of them, for the month, quarter, year or ever. Each product’s price trend, how often you buy it and when it’s probably time again. Pick the ones you care about — milk, diesel, coffee — and their yearly change is your inflation, weighted by what you spend. No index, no internet.

Which shop is cheaper

A price index per shop on the products you’ve bought in several, what’s cheaper and dearer in each, and what your monthly basket would cost in each. Know where to go, and what to buy there.

Receipts instead of paper

Every receipt kept — scanned or photographed — by month and shop, with the official copy a tap away. Mark one for warranty and Runway reminds you a month before it ends. Old ones can clear themselves; the prices stay.

Your standard of living

Which prices can you stop looking at — groceries, restaurants, clothes, travel? A rank from how you actually spend, never a sum.

Yours

Private. Shared with family. In any currency.

Private and free

No account, no servers of ours. Your numbers stay on your iPhone and your own Apple iCloud — we can’t see them.

One bookkeeping for the whole family

Invite your partner with an iCloud link. Each of you keeps your own cards and cash; both of you see everything. Kids get their own pocket runway and see only theirs. No account, no server — it lives in your iCloud.

Your currency, any currency

Pick a home currency and every number speaks it. Each account can be in its own — 30+ of them — and the total adds up at live rates, in euros, dollars or Bitcoin.

Clear, not clever

Three plain numbers, not one you have to decode.

A look inside

Four screens. That’s the whole app.

Nothing to configure, nothing to learn. Real screenshots, real numbers.

The Price screen turning $30,000 into 2 years 10 months of life.

Any price, in days of your life

Type a number and see what it really costs you — how long you’d save for it, and what it takes off your runway. Every price you’ve paid lives here too, from your receipts.

The History screen listing incomes and balance readings with running totals.

Everything you ever entered

Money in, each balance reading, and the balance after every line. Every number on every other screen is worked out from this list.

The Menu screen with accounts, loans, things you own and exchange rates.

Accounts, loans, what you own

Cards and savings, debt with its interest, and the things you could sell — plus your receipts, your products, your path, and live currency and bitcoin rates.

How it works

About 30 seconds a month.

No daily logging. Categories only if you want them. Receipts only if you want to know prices.

1

Add money when it comes in

Drop in each payment when you get paid. That’s the only thing you do as it happens.

2

Once a month, note your balances

Write down what’s in your accounts. Runway figures out your spending on its own — you don’t enter it.

3

See your days

Runway shows how many days your money will last — and whether that number is climbing or slipping.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is Runway really free?
Yes — completely. No phone number, no email, no registration, and no purchase required. Every feature is available to everyone.
Then how does it make money?
Right now it doesn’t. Runway is free for early adopters — every feature, no ads. Buying a license changes one thing: the occasional prompt to buy it stops appearing. Later a license will be $79 one-time or $19/month, and prices and terms will change as the app grows.
Do I have to track my expenses?
No. You add your income and note your balances once a month. Runway works out your spending from the difference — you don’t enter it by hand. If you later remember what part of a gap was, name it in History: the balance stays, the statistics learn.
Do I have to pick categories?
No. Runway works without them. When you do log an expense, a category is guessed from the note, the receipt or your last choice — one tap to change it. The month by category shows what you never explained as its own line, so the picture stays honest.
Is there a long setup?
No. You enter one balance and you’re in. From there Runway teaches itself one skill at a time: a single next-step card on Home, locked screens explain what opens them, and a step counts as yours once you’ve done it without being told. “Your path” in Menu shows where you are.
Can Runway touch my money?
No. Everything is read-only. Runway reads the numbers you enter to show you your days; it can’t move a cent.
Where does my data live?
On your iPhone and, if you turn on sync, your own private Apple iCloud. Runway keeps no servers of your money data — it doesn’t leave Apple’s ecosystem, and we can’t see it.
Can my partner and I share it?
Yes. Set up a household and send an iCloud invitation link. Adults see every account and every entry; children see only their own. There is still no account and no server — the family’s numbers live in your own iCloud.
Does it work in euros, pounds, yen…?
Yes. Set your home currency once and every sum is shown in it. Accounts can each be in their own currency; Runway adds them up at live rates. Switch the lens to days, your currency, dollars or Bitcoin any time.
What languages does it speak?
Sixteen: English, Arabic, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Turkish and Ukrainian. Switch inside the app, no restart.
Which receipts can it scan?
Fiscal receipts whose QR code leads to the tax authority’s page — Montenegro and Albania today. Point the camera at the code and Runway reads the products, prices, shop and date itself. Send us a receipt from your country and we’ll add it.
Where does a scanned receipt go?
From your iPhone straight to your country’s tax authority, the same page the QR code opens in a browser. No server of ours is involved, and nothing about you is sent anywhere.
Can I fix a mistake?
Yes. Runway keeps proper double-entry books: a correction is a reversal plus a new line, and History shows the balance after every line. Nothing is silently overwritten.
Who is Runway for?
Anyone who wants to know where they stand without the chore of budgeting — freelancers with an uneven income, people saving toward quitting or retiring early, or anyone tired of complicated money apps.
